Does vomiting invalidate the fast

Q: Kindly explain when does vomit invalidate fasting. 

A: The Fuqahaa have explained different types of vomit. We hereby simplify 
them as follows: Uninduced (involuntary) or induced. Each of the two could 
either be mouthful or less than a mouthful. Thus, there exist four possible 
cases: (a) Uninduced - mouthful, (b) Uninduced - less than a mouthful, (c) 
Induced - mouthful, (d) Induced - less than a mouthful. 

The vomit in each of these cases could either: a) Exit from the mouth, b) 
Unintentionally swallowed, c) Intentionally swallowed. 
Only two situations invalidate the fast, a) Uninduced - mouthful - 
intentionally swallowed, b) Induced - mouthful irrespective of whether it is 
swallowed or not. (Darse Tirmidhi vol.2; Darul Uloom Karachi) 

It is Mustahabb to wipe the neck in Wudhu.

Walaikum assalam,

As the fiqh texts mention, one’s fast is broken (without need for expiatory payment) only if one:

“Vomits a mouthful intentionally or to return vomit down the throat.”

It is not broken by non-deliberate vomiting or vomiting less than a mouthful. [Maraqi]

if you burp and some saliva comes up too with the burp (less than a mouthful) and you intentionally swallow it, and on swallowing it you find the taste of the saliva is bitter, is that saliva counted as vomit or not?

Bismillah Al-jawab billahi at-taufeeq (the answer with Allah’s guidance) This saliva is not saliva rather vomit. The fast is only broken if one had vomited a mouthful involuntarily and swallowed it voluntarily or if one had voluntarily (induced) vomited a mouthful whether swallowed or not. (Fataawa Hindiyya – vol. 1, pg. 203/4). The definition of “mouthful (vomit)” is that which one cannot hold back in one’s mouth without difficulty. (Nurul Idhah Pg. 35) If this was less than a mouthful then the fast did not break. The particle or little bit of vomit liquid had not even reached my mouth, and was just stuck in the throat. As you did not deliberately swallowed the vomit your fast will remain intact.     d. Vomiting less than a mouthful makes the mouth impure? In the situation described above, I just spit a few times and then did kulli a few times. Is it okay to ignore doubts that splashes from the kulli (though I did it slowly the first time to avoid splashes) are impure? There is a principle which is that that thing which does not break the wudhu is not impure.
